Salary for junior analyst at MM L/S
What would be the typical salary and all in comp for someone at the junior level doing L/S at a MM like citadel or P72 or MLP? Someone with 1-2 years banking experience or something similar? Also what are hours like at the associate level at these firms?
Have data points for Citadel. All the spectrum from 150K to 200K.
That’d be a little low, no? That’s close to what a 2nd year banking analyst would make but at a top tier hedge fund?
Thats salary alone :) Bonus could be anything from 0 to +infty (technically, not infty, but very big number). But this part of the comp is unpredictable and depends on many factors.
Your profile says you're a quant. Are you talking about Citadel Quant/trading or L/S fundamental equities?
I do not personally know anyone at Citadel with base less than 150 (assume analysts, swe, quant, pm, head of ...; location -- US, obviously there are people in London with base less than 150K$).
Salary 150k ish. Bonus i would think 150-300k depending on his own and the team's performance. Bonus would grow over time as he becomes more seasoned and hopefully bigger contributor.
This is correct. At Citadel associate 150k, Sr associate 175k base irrespective of location. Bonus somewhere between "fuck you, you're fired" to infinity +/- a few bucks.
Same goes for surveyor. It's the same company.
I've only seen 1buck+ for subPMs
at Millennium base is 150k and if junior hard to negotiate higher.
At pt72 I've seen as low as 125k for junior
also if your PM is new or complete miser then bonus can be on the really low side for first 2 years.
can an MM junior analyst with no formulaic connection to pnl still get a bonus if pod net returns are flat for the year (and, if so, to what extent), or is he just getting the base?
As far as I know, you would get zero bonus under that scenario at most MMs. Don't know of any that would allow the PM to "advance" $ to the analyst. And even if they did, frankly, doubt many PMs would be willing to take that risk.
Sit qui rerum minima mollitia excepturi modi. Iure laborum praesentium aliquid.
