USC Marshall vs Warwick (Econ) vs UVA (Econ) vs UT Austin McCombs vs Emory Goizueta
Hello. I am an international student who has been accepted to all of these programs as a freshman (USC Marshall, Warwick Econ, UVA Econ, UT Austin McCombs, and Emory Goizueta). I wanted to know which is best for IB BB and EB/MBB/PE/VC. Cost is not an issue, will be paying roughly equally everywhere. Want to work either in LA, SF, NYU, or London, do not have a preference for working in London/West Coast/East Coast. Advice would be appreciated.
would go USC but UVA solid. warwick good for london but US > UK for career comp
Would highly suggest you look into the visa/ immigration game unless it’s not an issue for you.
US/ UK could make a huge difference. I.e. how much pressure are you willing/ able to take for your visa status.
Honestly all are fine and have different merits. Emory is a smaller private school with a sizable network in Wall street and the south. Its a fairly impressive name in general. Has a good hit rate in terms of people wanting IB and getting it. UT Austin and UVA have had some breakout placements and are very well recognized with huge networks but UT Austin is humongous while UVA is relatively smaller but still its a public school. If you're at the top of your game then you can get some really good offers USC is very strong in LA/SF and increasingly in NYC. Very fun and good placement. Slightly weaker than other 3 in NYC but solid.
How is Goizueta's network? Are there a lot of alumni on the street in top firms? If I am going East Coast, I definitely want to work in NYC. Also, how are internships at Emory?
How likely is it for you to get into UVA's bba program?
If so then....
Emory=UVa> USC>UTA
If not then...
Emory>USC>UVa>UTA
Either way Emory is the best school on the list and your best option depending on cost.
I am predicted 44/45 in the IB. However, I heard that McIntire is not only about having a 4.0 GPA, hence that was also my concern. I know that non McIntire UVA is not a target. Regarding Emory, it is the highest ranked, but does place well into the top firms? I've heard some good and bad things about Emory on this forum. Thanks.
Yes. Emory is the best target on list overall and for NYC.
