MBA for Career Progression in Investment Banking
Hi all, I am writing this because I have been talking to many different people and also doing some research and have found conflicting responses on this topic. If I enter into a BB/EB/MM firm as an analyst straight out of undergrad is it necessary to go get an MBA at some point if I wish to progress in banking? I know that you go from analyst to associate all the time, but what about to junior/senior VP roles as well as director. Is it absolutely necessary to have an MBA to be considered for these positions or is promotion purely performance based? Also, do banks prefer promoting analysts who have been there 2-3 years to associate or to higher MBA grads?
