Just got accepted into UPenn

I’m currently a first year at a semi-target (regional target) and just got accepted into Penn CAS as a transfer. I’m aware it’s not Wharton but it’s still insanely hard to get into, so I’m very surprised I was accepted. Cost-wise this school would potentially save me thousands of dollars (65k rule). My question is what would be the recommended course of action to take if I was to leave my current school and go? I know I would be able to take advantage of OCR, but I may not be able to get into the finance related clubs due to how competitive they are. I would also have to face off against all the IB prospects from Wharton. I will say I am more interested in SF/LA but am open to NY. Any help is welcome.

Congratulations!! Getting into some investment clubs may be hard but Penn would certainly serve you well in terms of recruiting. The OCR is now open to everyone, not just Wharton kids as you mentioned. The decision really comes down to you personally.

  1. Are you happy at your current school? Have you made good friends that you would seriously miss if you left. If you were able then transfer into penn then you are probably being successful- keep it up and if you are really at a semi-target you will do fine anyway.

  2. Where is your school? If you go to a Regional target like USC/UCLA (I got to sc for transparency) then transferring might not be worth it since you said you wanted to end up in LA/SF. If you go to a regional target like vanderbilt or UT McCombs then it probably would be cause penn carries a notably stronger name on the west coast.

  3. I forgot which one was cheaper but if it’s close go to with that one.

Congratulations and do consider Penn will carry more weight throughout your entire career as well-don’t just think about the OCR
