REPE Process
posted this in the general PE forum too, but didnt get many responses. I haven't seen much content on the REPE process on WSO compared to the general PE process.
Was looking to gather info on when the process kicks off, how to best prep (doesn't look like REPE has a specific course to get through like Peak), any advice, etc.
Also differences between recruiting from RE IB vs. asset mgmt
Based on the most helpful WSO content, the REPE (Real Estate Private Equity) recruitment process can indeed seem less transparent compared to general PE processes. Here’s a breakdown to guide you through:

Preparation for REPE Interviews:
Differences in Recruiting from RE IB vs. Asset Management:
General Advice:
Understanding these aspects can significantly enhance your preparation and approach to breaking into REPE. Keep an eye on WSO for any new courses or resources that might be introduced in the future specifically targeting REPE.

It’s very unstructured. Only firms that do like a structured on-cycle process are the largest mega funds and maybe a couple others. Even then, sometimes the mega funds even just hire on as needed basis. That’s a lot of real estate PE. It’s just when the firm needs some people, they’ll add some. That’s the shitty part about it.
This is our firm exactly. Just hire when needed and usually hiring through recommendations/existing relationships. Will only use a recruiter and/or post jobs if we are really having trouble finding someone in our own network -- which really isn't a problem right now.
Agree. My firm is always on an as needed basis. The exception would be if you were an intern and we extent a formal offer, which is rare.
