Question about Exit Opps from Deal Strategy/Strat Consulting

Hi guys

I have an offer from KPMG Global Strategy Group - Deal Strategy. My career goal is either to move into Investment Banking after a few years or directly into Private Equity. How do you guys rate the following position in terms of exit opportunities? This is a position in Europe.

  • Participate in various projects in the deal strategy space: portfolio review, operational / carve-out / commercial due diligence (sell side & buy side), JV strategy, integration / separation planning and execution, synergy assessments.
  • Perform analyses on a broad range of operational, financial and strategic deal aspects and at different deal stages (due diligence, signing preparation, pre- and post-closing assistance)
  • Interact with various client and deal stakeholders through interviews, on-site meetings and workshops
  • Provide high-quality deliverables under tight deadlines
  • Support client proposals and other business development activities
  • Participate to various activities related to the growth of the strategy team

Thank you very much for your valued answers

Cheers

Thank you very much for your feedback.

I have a Finance Master and already 6 months PE experience through an internship. I also have a PE offer from an internationally unknown (but locally very well known) asset manager which has a Directs team (co-investments / minority investments up to a maximum of 20% from a transaction value of minimum 5m).

- Is the KPMG Global Strategy Group / Deal Strategy brand really that bad? In our country, KPMG is one of the leading address in the FS area.

- I can imagine taking on a management role in AM/IB/PWM at a BB in the long term or continuing my career in Private Equity.

What would you do with these options?

Thank you so much!

Would like to clarify would Deal Strategy team be a better position than Transaction Service if my ultimate goal is to move into PE?
