F500 TMT Corp Dev vs TMT EB --> MM/UMM PE

Comparing a F500 corp dev role to an EB role, what is better for breaking into PE? Would ideally like to avoid IB and go corp dev for the time being. Fwiw, I want to eventually go MBA route either before or after PE

Think about it. How many people a year do you see going from F500 corp dev role to PE? How about for IB? I’m surprised this question would even come up.

Would go the EB route. It's the best route. Corp dev will be viewed incredibly unfavorably. I've had friends who had your same mindset of wanting to avoid IB and tried to go in via a corp dev/corporate role, and basically got told by every single head hunter that PE would not take them seriously and that they could only interview at LMM firms at best.

The MBA point frankly doesn't help as most PE firms won't hire MBAs with 0 prior investing experience.
