Jane Street Business Development Salary & Progression: UK/EU/USA

Hi,

Bit about me: Non-Maths background (studied it until A-Level), but choosing Finance/Econ degree. Note that I am going into a gap year period.

Main concerns are two-fold:

1) What level of Mathematics do I need to be considered for this role (& how would I develop this if I need to improve?)

2) - What resources I can use to generally improve knowledge of maths/excel/vba over the next 2 years to be in a good position to apply to Jane Street (i.e. where might I look for free Excel formulae/VBA courses/webinars, free maths resources etc.)

Apart from this, looking to learn more about the following:

Job related:

  • Business Development role's typical salary out of undergrad (please state your region i.e. London), salary/title progression within this area, and typical hours (Have read in the region of 40-50pw);

  • Typical day in this area (product/strat);

  • Cultural anecdotes about the office experience;

  • Exit opps from Jane Street (or no point?);

  • Lateral opps INTO Jane Street (assuming IB/PE maybe - perhaps also S&T? MBB?)

Application related:

  • Anything you did/know of to prepare for the brainteasers. Have used a resource before but can't seem to find the website anymore (Went over brainteasers and their solutions, gave you hints if you wanted etc.)

  • Anything you did/know of to prepare for the Excel-based 2nd round test (This test is a sheet full of different booked trades over the course of one day. The task is to find all the errors within the 4000 or so orders using formulas and/or vba.)

If you can help in answering any, would be extremely grateful. Thank you!

Hey Prospect in IB - Gen, I swear if I had a silver banana for every lonely thread I posted too I'd be richer than @compbanker ...
