How to donate?

Hi everyone,

Recently saw the tax post and as an incoming intern, I wanted to donate some of my summer earnings (on a full ride scholarship so don’t have any pressing repayments).

How should I go about doing this? I already have the charity I want to donate to. Do I ask the company I’m working for to donate on my behalf so I don’t get hit with tax and the org gets more? Do I donate myself and get a writeoff (don’t really know how taxes work). Was thinking of donating 500-1k

Thanks yall! I appreciate the help

In all seriousness, find a charity you like that's a 501(c)(3) and donate to them directly via their site, they'll have multiple ways you can donate and they'll receive more/all of the money that way. You'll get a letter/receipt from them which then can help you come tax time.
