The formalities

Hello everyone. I recently came across and joined WSO after looking around Google for a finance centric forum and have already done a bit of posting. But I figure that it would be good to get my intro post done.

I graduated from a non-target university with a degree in Finance and Economics in 2010. After school I was only able to find a part time position in the BO of a local insurance agency. I quickly went from part time BO to full time soliciting position. And eventually was offered my own agency. When my significant other got her degree in nursing and got a job I decided I wanted to once again pursue my dream job (investment banking/corporate finance) now that it wasn't up to me to support us.

Right now I am languishing in a very unchallenging position on the front lines for a regional bank with a promise to be strongly considered for any analyst positions that pop up. So far I think I have picked up a ton of useful information from WSO and I am grateful for that. I look forward to picking up even more and hopefully making a few good friends along the way.

If anyone has successfully completed a career pivot like I am attempting I would love to hear about it. If anyone has any advice for breaking into the scene in Charlotte (my target market) I would love to hear from you too. Thanks!
