New Kid on the Block

Hello WSO,

My name is Richard and I'm a Junior at a small, southern liberal arts school-Sewanee, The University of the South. I've only got a decent GPA~3.2, but am improving that this year. The only things that I really have going for me is that I worked at the ML Private Banking and Investment Group(in Ponte Vedra, FL) for the past two summers, but I don't know if that will be impressive. Also I have a brother-in-law in investment banking and he's willing to help me out in anyway that can, especially when it comes to his connections at different banks so that my resume won't go straight into the trash.

I'm here to absorb any knowledge that I can in regards to corporate finance with the hopes of getting an internship this summer in either NYC or SF. Ideally I'd like to work in the tech sector, but I realize I'm not an ideal intern so I'm open to anything that comes my way. I have a good knowledge of finance and am great during interviews, but I'm just worried about getting to stage.

The level of ballers in Ponte Vedra is pretty significant. I would try and network with people there and find out what they do (hang out at Sawgrass, Ruth's Chris, Island Girl).

At the very least you could always get a CFA and try and join Intrepid down there.

You're born, you take shit. You get out in the world, you take more shit. You climb a little higher, you take less shit. Till one day you're up in the rarefied atmosphere and you've forgotten what shit even looks like. Welcome to the layer cake, son.
