Musket Corporation Thoughts??
Background - I go to a mid-tier state school (think OSU, UC Irvine, Tx A&M) and I have been fortunate enough to receive two distinct full-time job offers. I'm finding it challenging to make a decision and could really use some input.
The first offer is for a Commodities Trader role at Musket Corporation, based in Houston. My second offer is for a Corporate Finance role at a Robotics company in Florida. Initially, I was aiming for Investment Banking, but it appears my path is leading me elsewhere.
What has caught my interest in the Commodities Trader position is the earning potential that's often associated with it. Some of my peers have mentioned that commodity traders can earn significant income, even into the mid six-figure range or a couple of million dollars, particularly through commissions at the outset of their careers. This seems quite remarkable, and I was curious if this could potentially be my experience at Musket Corporation?
Moreover, I'm interested in understanding how a top-performing analyst at Musket Corporation might fare in terms of earnings compared to their counterparts at EBs like EVR, PWP, CVP etc?
I am not particularly constrained by location and am eager to take the best step for my career. (Solely from a financial/monetary POV)
Pay:
Musket base : 60-80k base (High earning potential on commission tho)
Corp Fin : 90-120k base (5-25k Year end bonus depending on firm performance)
