Major
As my sophomore year winds down at Cornell University, it’s time for me to declare a major. I’m still interested in finance, but I’ve realized that I don’t fully enjoy econ, and I struggle with the math-heavy aspects. Conversations with industry professionals suggest a growing emphasis on GPA over specific majors, indicating that the choice of major might be less crucial in the long run. I’m considering a major in government or history, both of which I enjoy and excel in, which could help boost my GPA. I worry that sticking with econ might risk lowering it and affect my chances for future job and internship opportunities. I also plan to complete a business minor, having already met most of the requirements. This summer, I secured an internship at an Investment Group so i feel that will help boost my CV. What major should I go with? would government be better than history or anything like that? I am also a student athlete so doing things like double majors are hard with practice and travel times.
