How much does school prestige matter for IBD?

Dear fellow monkeys,

I just graduated in economics and finance from McGill with high marks. Now, I'm trying to break in IB somewhere in Canada with no finance experience whatsoever. I have been looking for internships, but those require me to still be studying. Other than that, there seem to be almost no open analyst positions on LinkedIn or Google.

I know a few traders and investment bankers, they like me, they're alumni but we're not close.

Since I'm an eternal optimist, I have not given up on pursuing my dream career. So, where do I go from there? I am open to the idea of applying to a "bridge" finance job from which I could transfer to IBD later on, but I don't know what to aim for aside from FP&A. Any advice in that regard would be greatly appreciated.
