GRE needed for top London Masters
Currently a penultimate year student at decent semi target (Durham/Bath/KCL) and looking to apply to top London Msc Finance programs for September 2024 entry.
Looking at LSE’s A&F / F / F + PE, Imperial’s A&F / F and LBS MFA / MiM. Any idea of what a solid GRE score would look like to get in at these places?
I recognize for some places I don’t need a GRE since i’m from a UK undergrad but i’m from a non quant background (think law, history etc) so I assume it will aid in showcasing my quant ability.
I’ll very likely finish this year with a low-mid ish 2.1 and will have 2 small PE internships under my belt (international student from North America) by the time I apply.
Any input on what a solid GRE and/or GMAT score would look like for these programs would be greatly appreciated, and if you have any thoughts as to what my admissions chances look like based on my profile i’d appreciate that too.

Not sure about the GRE per say - but I would suspect you would want at least 90th+ percentile for all those programs.
For the GMAT, usually 700+ is ideal. Having the internship experience is great - LBS places a heavy emphasis on that, so that should help you out. If you can secure solid letter of rec, you should be able to get a spot at least one of those programs. I would start cranking out the GMAT/GRE over the summer.
Appreciate the info. Definitely am starting now as i’m a bit worried about my quant score being that i’ve been mostly doing non-quant uni work. Glad to hear it’s achievable with a 700+ and whatever the GRE equivalent is.
Hey, if you want some tips on the GRE don't hesitate to PM. Got quant 169 and verbal 166.
You don't need one for LSE with a UK degree or imperial
Why GRE and not GMAT? Most people applying for msc finance programmes do GMAT. I was under the impression that the GRE was for more quant focused masters such as msc financial maths & msc financial engineering
Probably whatever the equivalent of 700-710 in GMAT transmuted is. For reference I got 317 (158Q and 159V) which is horribly low and still got into the LBS MFA so don’t think it’s the end of the world if your GRE isn’t 325-330+++.
Thanks for this. Did you have a quant background in your degree? Congrats on LBS
