Questions about IB?
Hi guys
I'm currently just a Junior in high school. My 2 main interests are finance and law. Within finance, I'm very interested in IB. I had some questions.
1. How much does undergrad matter for Wall Street IB? So far, here is my college list.
1. Patrick Henry College
2. Hillsdale College
3. Hampden-Sydney College
4. Wofford College
5. Trinity College (CT)
6. Gettysburg College
7. New St. Andrews College
I know a lot of these schools aren't very well known, but these are the ones I like for undergrad. Would it be impossible for me to get into Wall Street IB if I went to one of these schools?
2. Let's say I went to one of the lesser known schools for UG. Would an MA in Finance from a top grad school help me get into IB?
2. I have a visual impairment. I have no vision in my right eye, and some in my left. Would this hurt me when trying to get into IB?
Thanks
Can you give me a list of targets and semi-targets? I'm not sure if I can get into a target school. I have a 3.3 GPA, and a 28 ACT.
Undergrad is pretty much everything. Ideally, you won't need an MBA to "reset" your career, because that just delays your professional development. Only exceptions are non-business majors like engineering students who want an MBA to round themselves out (these guys become incredibly sought-after). I'm from Canada and I haven't heard of any of these colleges. Try to go to a target school, that makes OCR (on-campus recruiting) much easier, but going to a non-target doesn't mean it's the end of the world. Just means that you have more limited options to start off with, and you need 10x more hustle.
As long as the visual impairment doesn't affect your ability to do work, it's fine. Try to spin this into an advantage...I could see a great adversity story coming from this.
