From Asset Management to HF
Hi all,
I need a career advice.
I am working for a large AM.
I have started interviewing for some HFs in NYC and I am in the final round for two of them for L/S investing analyst positions.
The AM I work currently has a better name compared to the mide-sized HFs. However, internal mobility requires several months as there are not many openings right now.
Can you please give me your advice?
Many thanks
Why won’t you stay at long only?
this post is like saying I go to Harvard tips on transferring to community college
Poor analogy maybe that’s how you see it but not everyone thinks long only is the dream.
In reality, you’re taking more career risk but will likely get compensated more for that. It will be harder to switch back to LO but not impossible.
Sorry. Maybe the post written like this has no sense. I have edited it to hide the company details. I am working for a large asset manager (one of the top 3 in the world). However, I am in sales and I want to switch to investing. Internal mobility is easier as they prefer internal candidates rather than external ones and I have a very good education background. Right now there are no open opportunities and it may takes several months before the right position to open. In terms of prestige the company I am currently working for is better but if I receive an offer I have the opportunity to change immediately
