Should there be a separate forum for private credit?
More of a meta-forum question , but I work in private credit / mezzanine / distressed investing and given that it's pretty distinct from private equity and with the growing popularity and asset formation, should there be a separate forum rather than co-mingling with the PE forum? I personally think so but would be great to see other perspectives too
Agreed
same
If not, can we at least get a PC user tag?
To be honest should be a just credit forum, for both public credit and private credit. CLOs have also exploded and are kind of stranded as well.
Half the distressed / SS content is in HF forum and other half is in PE forum.
Yes, 1000%. We should have a credit forum. Distress & direct lending bros need to unite as one
definitely agree on that, an overall general lending forum
Agree that there should be a credit designation (perhaps even one for Publics and Privates). Further, they should add tag functionalities to the app (for example, VC tag not available on my version of mobile)
Agreed!
Definitely - there should be forums for Private Credit as well as one for Publics
I would appreciate this greatly as a student, since I’m trying to get into the credit space. Going to be doing my junior internship for a CLO manager doing research, would appreciate any advice
Well done on the internship. Let me know if you have any questions.
Hi, my questions are is there any recommended books to understand CLOs better, and if I end up not liking the internship would I be competitive for research roles for Corporate Debt for FT as this is my junior summer internship?
Totally agreed - In DL
yes please, let's get a credit forum.
I would simply make private equity forum be private investments and call it a day
The idea above for a credit forum rather than strictly PC seems like a good idea. the RE forum has a similar issue where lenders, developers, acq guys, etc are all lumped together. The VC forum is pretty dead now it seems, so wonder if the PC forum would end up the same way if other credit roles aren't rolled up into it as well.
I agree, but I like that personally since they're all in RE one way or another, so it's interesting to see different perspectives.
I would love to learn more about private credit (who are the major players and how to get into the space). Any advice for someone without a banking background but currently working in a strategic finance role at a startup?
100%
Agree that we need a credit forum. Also agree that it needs to be a broader 'credit' forum rather than strictly PC, so that it garners more traffic.
I've noticed a problem in these forums - people shy away from going to the most appropriate forum because it has less traffic and therefore garners less answers, and they go to the wrong forum because it has more traffic.
E.g., people asking a question about equity research use the IB forum instead of the ER one, cuz you barely get your questions answered in the ER forum
100%! Great idea. Though I think just a generalized credit forum would be great.

Yes. If there is one for ER and wealth management, there should be one for credit. Also, credit is bigger than private credit and there is more to private credit than just sponsor finance. But I think a credit forum would suffice (would expect most threads to be on private).

Agree, thanks.
I think that would be helpful

Yes I fully agree that private credit should have it's own forum - DL is an established strategy long-term that should have their own discussion

Sorry to hijack the discussion but I am new to the private credit industry and would appreciate if anyone can share any resources they may have? Books/ Modelling course/ Websites
Much appreciated and thanks
Agreed, a broad credit forum would be useful. We don't need private/public stratification.
done
Yes there should be a separate forum for sure. It’s a massive asset class
done.

wen Credit forum?
here
Congrats all! We did it (along with the help of all the comments, suggestions and other threads)
Awesome!
Thank you WSO for listening to your users.
I've been thinking this same thing for a while now - incredible to see WSO added it in!! Thanks to everyone who raised their voices and thanks to WSO for listening. The asset class is exploding and definitely makes sense to gather the content in a single place instead of fragmenting these conversations across other forums.
