Career Advice
Hey all, I recently received an offer and wanted to get everyone’s advice. Quick background: located in California, master’s in finance from a top Bay Area school, 1 YOE in corporate finance, 24 years old. I recently received an offer FP&A analyst position in the gaming (casino) industry, out of state and was looking for some advice. I have not been able to land any interview for Financial Analyst position here in CA (probably due to my lack of experience) which is what led me to start applying to out of state positions. My thought process is I can work here for a year or two and then start applying for positions back in CA. Ultimately, I want to end up back in CA working in something more conventional like tech or healthcare. My question is would working in such a unique industry like the gaming industry pigeon hole me to this industry and prevent me from moving into other industries such as tech? This position would require me to move out of state as well so would living out of state really hurt my chances of landing a role in CA in a few years?
Thank you in advance!
