Why don’t more EBs have research divisions.

Afaik Evercore and Gug are the only “EBs” that have research. Is there a reason for this or is banking really the core product of the firms that fit the EB category?

EVR acquired ISI, there are tons of boutique and MM research firms that would make a good acquisition.
