S&T interview question

As I'm planning to prepare for s&t interviews I've been thinking about the question "where do you see the market going in 4,8,12 months" or "what trends are you following?"

I'm curious to see what others think and what sectors, specific stocks, etc they are following. Also just general advice for this question.

 

For general advice, I would try and read the news WSJ or other about once a day at least. Keep up with major developments(right now that could be debt ceiling stuff), and try and form your own opinion on what’ll happen to major asset classes if these developments play out vs. don’t play out etc…
