[London] Sales and Trading (S&T) SA 2024

Hey guys, first post here.

I am a first year MSc in Finance student from Bocconi, with the goal of breaking into S&T after my studies (preferably through a SA program).

I have few questions regarding S&T:

  1. I know that spots in S&T are less compared to IBD, but on a vacancy-adjusted-basis, how competitive is the selection process?

  2. Which firms offer rotational programs and which do not?

  3. Is there a league table for S&T (for every desk)?

  4. Do you have any advice/warning from your own experience

Thanks!

hi

1) imo as hard or as competitive. i've heard of people graduating 1-2 years late because they couldn't land an offer and wanted to so badly. also due to not converting at previous interns. s&t much easier to differentiate yourself though, knowledge curve much steeper so if you're good you're good, dont worry about competition. ib its a bunch of kids with 4.0 gpas saying the exact same thing with the exact same answers who memorised the exact same technical and behavioural questions.

2) afaik citi and gs have rotationals. cant remember who else, maybe others can chime in

a lot of the curve is learning how to prop trade under these regulations.
