Institutional Equity Sales vs Tech Sales
Hey everyone. I currently work in institutional equity sales at a very small boutique IB. The pay is very very low as I was willing to take low pay to break into this. It is all cold calling as well. I came from mortgage sales but was a top producer and went to a non target so I did not have good job prospects. I have an opportunity to break into tech sales at a top 10 tech company. I am just wondering if any of you can shed light on how much institutional sales guys are currently making at the big banks. I would be leaving mine after 1-2 years, but I do not know how much guys at good shops are making. The guys in tech are making $250k OTE working 40-50 hours and working remote, with potential to earn way more if they are good.
Any insight would be appreciated on tech sales vs institutional sales, and how much I could expect to make in this field if I stick it out. I keep hearing it is a dying field, and it is hard for me to gauge it because my small firm seems to be worse than most. Thanks everyone.
