Would it make sense to go back to bschool?
Looking for advice on bschool. Previously had 2 years of corporate banking experience followed by 3 years of IB experience where my most recent role was an Aso in a capital markets group. However, I've been out of the job for nearly half a year following a wave of layoffs.
Thinking of applying to bschool, although the decision comes with its own set of uncertainties. I graduated from a t50-75 school marked by a modest GPA of 3.4, which leaves me pondering the strength of my application. When working in corporate banking, I took the GMAT and scored a 730. Additionally, while I had maintained amicable relationships with colleagues and managers during my time working, I question if I could get glowing rec letters given it has been a while since I've last communicated with any of the senior team members from my prior jobs.
I would appreciate any insights or advice on navigating this crossroad, particularly from people who have faced or are familiar with such pivotal decisions. Thank you.
Bump - in a similar situation. An apprehension I had is to spend 2 years and 200k on school only to end up in the same seat I was in previously. At the same time, unsure of where else to find a role given the slower hiring market and haven't been working for several months.
Have you tried looking at other roles like corporate development or private credit?
Bump interested
Tbh I don't understand the rationale for people who went a2a to go to bschool, because the best opportunities afterwards are just the same role they had before. Why spend 2 years and 200k to get the same job?
