Where should go to graduate school??? Gmat 680
Hey everyone,
I would really appreciate some advice as to where I should be looking to go to graduate school/Business School. I scored a 680 on my Gmat and I had a 3.1 from the school of management at Umass amherst for undergraduate. I have worked as a currency researcher, proprietary stock trader, investment analyst. I am really interested in market finance and investments so I am considering going for my Masters in Finance instead of getting a straight MBA. I'm also considering schools that are renowned for their quant finance programs. Have any good suggestions or ideas of where my target schools should be? I'd like to be doing some type of investment finance after graduation whether it be research, trading, portfolio management or an analyst role.
Just wait for the assholes who sarcastically tell you to apply to Harvard and Stanford. Yeah, we get it, he won't get in there.
What region are you looking at?
Harvard Extension Business School.
CMU. Columbia. try to get a 700 though.
Fuqua/McCombs good for that gmat though..
Hmm interesting. In response to my geography, I am in the Boston area but I'd definitely relocate for the sake of a better program. Harvard Business Extension school?? I mean I realize that I'm not getting any scholarships to Harvard or Wharton, but I feel like with these credentials a second tier (not top 10) school wouldnt be out of my reach? Am I wrong? I found this list of the top 10 quant Finance schools and it mentions Carnegie Mellon University, Columbia University, Cornell University, New York University, Princeton University, Rutgers University, Stanford University, University of California at Berkeley, University of Chicago and University of Michigan.
Out of the top 10 almost all are probably out of my reach except maybe rutgers, or NYU... However there are also "honorable mentions" including Boston University and Baruch College of NY. Are these good programs, are they well known in the finance world? I'd hate to throw down a few hundred thou and be in the same sucky employment situation as I am now. So what it comes down to is with my credentials, where would be the most valuable school to develop my skills in market finance? Sorry its so specific to my situation, but any thoughts on the topic are appreciated.
