UVA McIntire vs. Cal Haas as a transfer student
I'm currently a California resident looking at both UVA's McIntire School and Columbia for transfer. Columbia is a bit of a stretch for me, but I'm wondering how McIntire stacks up on Wall Street. Will it help me get into the front office or at least land some interviews over staying in state and going to Haas?
While I get the value of Columbia, I'm not sure if UVA's out of state tuition is worth it over Haas. By the way, I'm not really into super interested in living or working in SF, but Berkeley's tuition seems like a steal for me.
Haas, but both great
Do whatever you can to get to Columbia.
Don’t go to UVA

Ah you don’t think being closer helped for recruiting at all? Were you in McIntire?
Yes, with how accelerated recruiting is, you sign your SA offer before even taking a class at McIntire (and maybe even before getting in). Once you're in McIntire you don't really learn anything useful for the summer either. Alumni network is there and helpful though, but I'd imagine it is also very present at Berkeley. If you're paying out of state for both, go for Haas
plenty of cal kids place in nyc
It's definitely ideal that I get accepted there and will definitely go as long as I get into Haas. If not accepted into Haas though, how do Econ majors fair in recruiting? Is the "Haas reject" label as prevalent as some people make it seem?
Haas/Econ makes no difference. Might change in a few years bc they made Haas a 4yr program now but should be good if transferring ~1-2 years.
Depends on what year you are transferring into McIntire at and what you want your concentration to be in. Recently graduated from there and know multiple people working in IB and Consulting in NYC (if that's where you want to end up).
I'd be a Junior transfer. Definitely only interested in finance for a concentration. Are internships harder to get if I'm a Junior with no past relevant internships?
