UMich LSA (non Ross) vs IU Kelley
I’m currently a high school senior who was accepted to both UMich LSA and IU Kelley Direct Admit. I was rejected from the Ross school of business and therefore cannot apply again. UMich is 10k cheaper per year and I would major in econ and minor in CS (maybe minor in business but that’s another application and is not guarunteed). I want to go into IB/PE/HF.
I know that the investment banking workshop at Kelley is the best thing to do there, but that it is incredibly competitive (like 600+ people applying for 75 spots). Similarly, Ross clubs are the best bet for non Ross and are also super competitive. I have a friend at Ross in a club who said that he knows multiple LSA students who have offers from EBs.
I’m fairly confident I would have made it into Ross if there had not been 40% more applicants (COVID test optional policies), as well as timing issues with my application.
I have a feeling that my experience would be very similar at either school (have to bust my ass for a shot), so I’m wondering if the “business school” + “finance” is worth an extra $40k.
Thanks for any insight anyone can provide.
Side note: I’m also on the Cornell Dyson Waitlist, but the chance of that happening is effectively 0%.
