U of Rochester for IB

I am currently a senior in high school committed to U of Rochester for sports. Despite U Rochester not being a target school I heard it is pretty well respected and decently highly ranked. I am considering transferring to a target after 1st year and am wondering if it would be worth it for an IB career. Given the opportunity, should I transfer to a target? Or stay and just network super hard.

If you're ELITE at rochester then you'll have a shot because the few Rochester grads in IB pull hard for their guys. 4.0, hard network, big fish small pond, 3ish internships and you gotta shot. Rochester is a non target tho. If you can, transfer because the difference of a semi target and Rochester will be major.

Yeah ive heard the small alumni network pulls pretty hard. Assuming a 4.0 and rigorous finance classes, you think I would have good odds transferring to a target? Specifically thinking UVA, umich, Vanderbilt, middlebury

I don't get why people who end up going to school in New York end up chosing these random borderline non-targets over program like Rutgers / Fordham / Baruch which have legitimate pipelines to Wall Street and are even easier to get into vs. schools like U Rochester.

I mean you're not wrong. U Rochester does have a good name in finance and other field. I just don't get why people apply to schools like that are oddly placed between non-target and semi-target with expensive tuition. I made this mistake 10+ years ago and deeply regret it. I would have gone to one of the three schools I listed to in a heartbeat over the UG I chose.
