Transferring into Penn
Hey all,
Im an incoming freshman at semi target school (think Vandy, UT Austin, UCLA, USC, Berkeley) and am considering transferring into Penn for Sophomore year. I'm sure I'll be happy at my school, but I kind of want the prestige and peers of an ivy-league school. I applied this year and got rejected but am pretty confident I could have gotten if I would have ED'd-I have legacy but originally didn't want Penn. Now I've changed my mind after spending too much time reading this forum.
If I were to get a 3.9+ in a finance major combined with a 3.9 high school GPA from a top HS (34 ACT), plus probably a donation, what sort of chance would I have at transferring into Penn and hopefully Wharton. Is it even worth it or would I be looked at with a stigma since I transferred. Would it be difficult making friends at that point too?
THIS WOULD NOT be for a first job-I'm pretty confident I can get a BB analyst job through my existing network and already have interned at 2 20 billion AUM+ funds, 1 time being the only high schooler. This is more for a future network and for the rest of my career/acceptance into private clubs my parents are currently part of.
Im sure many of you are reading this thinking this guy is absolutely fucking stupid- and I often think I am for not being satisfied with a T20 university. But I feel like if I'm going to have the ultimate career I want (CIO, partner), going to PENN would help significantly. Would just doing an MBA at Wharton be enough?
Bump
“plus probably a donation”. That is hilarious to me for some reason haha.
ok, very likely a donation
Penn updating their cash flow forecast
"Ok lets update our model to reflect Intern in IB-M&A's donation of $50 from probably to likely"
this is ridiculous. sounds like somebody wants some self validation
Based on some of threads I've seen on here recently, I would stay as far away from Penn as humanly possible
