Target schools importance in the world of finance

Hi All,

Currently I'm grately concerned about the future of my finance career, to be more specific, I’m quite at the loggerheads about what to do next.

My name is Dmytrii, I’m from Ukraine. This year I’ve enrolled to of the Austrian university to obtain a masters degree in finance. Frankly, I’m satisfied with the education I’m getting, but there are several minor drawbacks (for instance too much theoretical financial math, lack of practical knowledge and the overall pace of education is quite slow (my master’s program is 2,5 years long)).

The thing which worries me, is the possibility of missing out. My friends who decided to go to business schools have more practically oriented master’s programs filled with practical knowledge, internships and etc.

My question is how important to have an education obtained in the target school in the world of finance? Will my level of competitiveness sufficiently increase if I decide to get a master’s degree in a target school? So I’m quite confused right now, on whether I should try to break into a target school, to be relevant as a person from non-western world.

Any suggestions or advices are helpful, thank you for reading.
