South East MBA
Strongly considering starting a Part Time MBA next fall. I currently live in Atlanta and work full time so Emory or Georgia Tech part time would make the most sense. I am also considering UNC’s online program but feel I wouldn’t get as much out of an online program even tho it may be more highly regarded in the RE world. What school would be your preference in my situation?
I am about to begin studying for the GMAT and am targeting schools in the South East as well for a Real Estate MBA. The top two schools for me are UNC & Emory in that order. I don't think there is any topping UNC's program if you want to be in the South.
I was initially interested in Georgia as well, but I reached out to their admissions team and found out that they have 0 students enrolled in their real estate MBA concentration this year...not a great look. I am also considering Georgetown, I know this isn't in the South but it seems like their alumni network is well connected in the South & could help with landing a role.
I would be goin the full time route. Are there any schools that I haven't mentioned that you are considering?
I was considering UVA and Duke but I believe those are full time only. I think I’m better off going part time route as I have a solid role right now and I think experience trumps education in RE. Don’t think you can go wrong with UNC or Emory if you are wanting to stay in the SE. I would put both of those programs above Georgetown imo.
If you're working in Atlanta and simply looking for a part time diploma, either of those programs will work for you. Tech will probably give you a slightly better Atlanta-specific network and Emory is a better ranked program overall, but you're not going to go wrong with either. I'd personally lean toward them over an online program at UNC.
Obviously this is different than a full time, in-person decision, and my advice in that case might be just UNC all the way, but if you're happy with your role and your direction already and want to continue, you're doing the right thing.
Are you suggesting Tech would be the better choice over Emory? Based on LinkedIn searches and conversations I’ve had with alumni, Emory seems far and away the better option.
Nah, Emory is a better program. Tech just has a very, very strong network in Atlanta RE.
Essentially saying if you ended up at Tech, there are positives to that too.
