Shortcut to an IB career
Hi,
At the moment I'm kind of in a state of worry. I'm about to graduate this summer and I want to continue my studies by applying to an MSc or MBA program for the fall of 2017. My ultimate goal is to eventually work in the IB field or anything similar to it. The company that I really want to work for is Rothschild in London.
My problem, hence the title of this discussion, is that I haven't taken the GMAT yet and I believe that I'm pretty late to it. So what I'm wondering is if there's any way that I can apply to a university without a gmat score and also have a chance of an IB career after I graduate.
I am born and raised in Sweden which is also the country that I'm currently studying in at a top 5 business school but I would love to work and live abroad in the future.
I've done some research on linkedin and looked at some employees at Rothschild and I must say it is pretty mixed. There are a lot of people who have graduated from universities that aren't considered the very top in Britain but still I'm not sure. It is such a pivotal moment in my life and I really want to make the best decision for myself so that I don't find myself regretting my choice and losing time.
I've also read somewhere that IB recruiters don't just look for business students, they also recruit students who've read something completely different at university but still they've attended the best of the best universities. One way to achieve my goal might be to apply to the MSc program at a top university that is the easiest to get admitted to? Eventually it would be incredibly boring to take classes that doesn't interest you but still it would be worth it. Any ideas on that?
Might I add that I'm currently working at one of Sweden's top 4 banks as a bank clerk which obviously you all know is nothing fancy at all. The amazing part about it is that my colleague happens to be the wife of the CEO and she promised me that she would help me apply to her son's university in London (I can't remember the name). That is great and all but I can't just rely on that, I have to have a plan B as well and I hope that you guys can be helpful.
Preferred countries to study in: Norway, Denmark, England, Germany, France, Switzerland, Italy, USA, Canada. Essentially I'd go anywhere if someone would convince me that I would have a great chance at an IB career after I graduate.
