Richard Ivey US Recruit

Hey WSO, I know this topic has been brought up many times but I can't seem to find a definitive answer on the current situation between Ivey and US BBs and EBs. I've spoken to a few Ivey graduates about the topic, but they weren't 100% sure of the current recruiting situation at the school since a lot has changed in the past year. Have all US BBs and EBs stopped recruiting from Ivey altogether?

Any insight would be very much appreciated. Thanks.

This depends on if you're Ivey HBA vs MBA. From what I've heard recently (in the last year) on the undergrad side, US BBs are still recruiting quite actively. What's shocking for an old person like me is that recruiting cycles have been pushed up so much that folks are landing summer positions for 3rd year summer by the time they wrap up 2nd year. Maybe things have changed in the last few months, but that's the latest from the Ivey grapevine.

Thanks for the response. I heard something similar as well; I believe LAZ and EVR were recruiting from Western in May which means they were recruiting students before they even entered the HBA program. Have you heard about any firms reserving spots to recruit in the fall for Ivey or is that no longer true?

Bit of a late response but hope it still provides some color to you. As Honeycube said, some US firms are still recruiting at Ivey HBA but timeline is pushed up a lot. Some firms get around the Ivey empty threats by going through main campus career portal and frankly no one is gonna stop them. The LAZ and EVR thing you heard is correct tho I think Lazard at Ivey recruit for its Toronto office, which was as boutique that they bought in 2016 (Verus Partners). Funny that when LAZ came to do info session in Sep 2018, it was actually for internship in summer 2020!

If its a US opportunity you are aiming for you should definitely up the networking game, be on the good side of the HBA2s who could get you into the early firm networking events. Of course being a WIC JA helps.

With that said the actual number of opportunities have shrunk and as a result there's now also greater competition for jobs at Canadian banks, who are also interviewing in Sep/Oct. Consulting is still in Jan fwiw.

I appreciate the response! I'm currently attending another university and looking to transfer to their HBA program, so it makes it more difficult to network with Ivey students. I won't hear a response for my HBA app until mid-June to mid-July which probably rules me out of any recruiting during May. Do you happen to know specific names for firms recruiting in Sep/Oct?
