Profile Evaluation/What are my chances? MSc in Finance at LBS, LSE, Oxford,...

Hi all,

I’m an Asian and a senior studying in the U.S. (non-target) majoring in Finance. I missed out on the SA recruiting season and I figure out my best chance to break into IB/Consulting now is to rebrand by going for an MSc program. Hence, I’m planning to apply to these programs this year. It would be great to receive feedback about my admission chances.

School List (based on https://www.wallstreetoasis.com/forums/european-m…)
- Tier 1: LBS – MFA, LSEMSF, Oxford – MFE
- Tier 1.5-2: Imperial – MSF, Bocconi – MSF
- Tier 2.5-3: Warwick – MSF, Cass – MSF

My Profile:
- Finance major at a non-target U.S., 3.92/4.00 GPA, ~740 GMAT (mock test)
- Work experience: one SA at a technology start up in London, one SA at an IB in my country
- Extracurricular: member of investment association, TA for an accounting class, university’s student-run investment fund, resident assistant
- International: study in South Korea, internship in London
- Language: English, Asian language

I believe my weakness is my work experience as I only have two summer internships at basically two no-name firms. My top choice is definitely the tier 1 schools but I’m afraid my lack of experience will hinder my chance of getting in.

Thus, I have three biggest questions:
- I want to work in IB/Consulting in London or Singapore after graduation so which schools should I apply to given my profile? It’s important to reiterate that I’m an Asian and I will need visa sponsorship
- Some schools have requirements for quantitative skills/math background. For example, LSE requires A level of Mathematics. May I ask what does that equal to in the U.S.? I’m taking Cal II in the Fall and possibly Cal III my last semester. Is that enough?
- I know schools like Bocconi/HEC have good placement into London IB? But many people say it will be beneficial if you are/speak Italian/French? Do you think is that true and can you give me some thoughts about that?

I appreciate any help and insight. Thanks very much in advance!!
