Profile Evaluation MSc Fin LSE IMPERIAL
I'll just get straight to the point here:
undergrad (in Y3) - Cass business School (Finance related degree) - current grade = 1:1 (mid 70s) (highest grade out of all students in a related module)
Previous summer internships: Big 4(valuations), EB (IBD, most recent) - both were abroad (not UK or NY)
NO GMAT (not required)
Do you think I am likely to get in to LSE and/or Imperial for MSc Finance or should I aim for lower institutions / courses that are easier to get into
Aim: getting into IB
If you want to reach the 10th step, aim for the 11th.
Never lower standards without even trying. No one on the admissions team is on this site.
Try both and have a backup lower tier. If you get in, you get in. The only way to ensure not getting in is not trying at all.
I appreciate the comment and the reason I ask is due to the fact that if I apply to MSc finance at imperial then I can't apply to MSc accounting and finance there as there is only one application per season...
Should I aim for the easier option (A&F) or take the risk for the better position in your opinion?

The only person who can answer that is you.
But, in my opinion, you almost convinced yourself you might not be getting in anyway. So might as well go all in.
But if you believe you have an edge for the second one then choose that.
Why no GMAT?
I know you don’t ‘need’ it, but it for sure helps. You would likely need to only spend a month on studying for it, and anything 700+ will improve your chances.
As it stands right now, I would say your odds are very low for MFin. Tonnes of kids applying from Europe with internships and GMAT.
I agree with the other poster that not applying outright is shooting yourself in the foot, but if you are already at a weak semi target, the least you should do is get a decent GMAT score.
I would say that an alternative would be graduating from undergrad, getting a solid role (big 4 or anything above) and applying the year after with a really good GMAT (as you would’ve had a year to prepare).
A lot more than a month is required for a 700+
I'm now starting from the stratch in terms of GMAT preparations, aiming to get a decent score in 2.5 months (while working FT). Not sure if that's possible but gonna give a try anyway haha
First and foremost, I appreciate the response.
I did not complete a GMAT for a few reasons:
1) I misunderstood the importance of it when completing my LSE application (which has already been sent so it is too late for that)
2) I had spoken to two people from my undergrad course who were accepted into LSE MSc fin (one of which was also accepted into Imperial but was an overachiever), both did not complete the GMAT
3) I took a blind GMAT mock quite recently and achieved a 590, thus ample study is going to be required to improve it to 700+ and would come at a cost to my university grade, potentially even lowering my graduating grade to a 2:1
