Non-Target School Recommendations

Hello all, I’m making this post to ask for college advice as a Jr. in high school. I understand the importance of attending a target school when it comes to MBB recruitment. I will most likely not be attending a target as I have a 3.7 GPA, but I still want to peruse a career in consulting. What other factors should I look for in a college/university in regards to a successful career in consulting? Also I live in California, and any specific recommendations would be extremely valued. I don’t care about anything except maximizing my chance at consulting(Any cost, any lifestyle, etc.)

Go to a UC school, join 180 degrees consulting, and study hard for cases. Not great placement at the non Cal / LA UCs but at least a couple MBB per year. Network enough to get the interview and keep your GPA up. Not ideal but in-state tuition is worth it. Try to get into the best school possible, but the tier 2 UCs are solid.
