MSc in Finance: Lancaster or Cranfield?

Hi!

I need your advice as for the choice of business school for the master in finance.

Cranfield or Lancaster?

My background: BA Economics from non-target uni, MSc Economics from target uni (Bocconi)

My goals: as I have always studied in Italy, I wish to study abroad to gain international experience and learn english as well. Plus I want to specialize in finance with a one-year program.

Remark: I did not apply for target UK unis as I did not take GMAT.

Which of the unis stated above do you suggest me?

Cheers!

honestly, none of them. WBS is better and does not ask for the gmat.

The Pharma Guy:
When WBS says they do not 'require it' but a 700+ score will strenghten your application it means you need stellar grades and a monster CV to justify getting in without it.

I know, but he can try anyway. If he graduated cum laude from bocconi for instance, he could get in. Btw Can you please (sheep29) shed some lights on ur credentials? Do you have work experience etc.?

Both aren't ideal but let's make the best out of the situation. I don't think Lancaster is known for anything in particular but Cranfield is know for aviation/aerospace engineering. If you chance during job applications you have someone with an engineering background they may know Cranfield rather than Lancaster. If these are the only options I would go with Cranfield.

I know a few ways of wasting money.. After this post, I got a new one to put on the list.

I mean, how comes that after a bachelor and a master (in a target Uni) one would decide to undertake another one and in one of these unknown Uni? You also got quite a few experiences in the industry, so why not starting applying for jobs?

Moreover, did you do a bit of research about other uni's entry requirements? GMAT is requested for few programs only, and often is just recommended!

This is another fallacy of the useless FT ranking..

It's true, but when you study economics and you don't know English well and you don't have practical skills to exploit on the job, it's hard to get a job in the financial industry. I applied for jobs and not few but all of the employers that I do not have a usable skills they need. Apart from management consulting but I'd like to move out this field

You have a great MSc from a well-respected target Uni! Adding the international exposure via Lancaster or Cranfield degrees will not benefit your CV at best and could damage your profile at worst. Either: 1) apply to WBS and other 'target' business schools which do not require the GMAT, even if it is recommended, as your profile is strong enough to be accepted without the GMAT 2) take the GMAT! 3) Consider working/interning abroad rather than studying, you stand a good shot at getting into high finance or whatever your aspirations are with your profile as it stands
