MS Finance - Simon U of Rochester / McCombs U of Texas, Austin?
Hello Guys,
I am a prospective student with offers from both of these B-schools for their MS Finance program starting in Fall 2023. As an International student, both are STEM qualified - seems better. But which one should I choose to go further with? I do hold a $30,000 scholarship from Simon and haven't yet received a mail from McCombs as they tend to send it by this weekend, (probably $20,000 max).
Which one should I choose to pursue my master's in Finance? As Texas seems to be a growing hub for Finance, and Rochester seems to be nearer to NY/NJ and with good alumni profile too. As I do understand McCombs's MBA is valued way higher than Simon's as of now. Will it be the same case for Rochester or the other way around?
I am interested in working for Buy-side firms post my Master, I do hold nearly 2 years of Work experience working in a Big 4 firm as well as a boutique Wealth management firm in India.

I am planning to apply to MIT Sloan's MS Finance program too, I get that it's a tougher program to get into, It seems a bit expensive when compared to these too! Do I need to apply for MIT? Do they provide better scholarships too for international students for MS Finance?

For MIT your GPA and GMAT have to be high AFAIK, What is your GPA and GMAT? Also which college did you attend?
I hold a GPA of 3.72/4, a Majors CGPA of 3.87/4, and a GMAT of 760. I double majored in Accountancy & Finance from one of the top 3 B-schools in India.
UT Austin better. Vanderbilt a better program than UT Austin. MIT and Princeton would place the best but are harder to get into
this and they target different things. McCombs, Simon, and Vandy are all for ppl who are looking towards IB/PE/VC, corp dev, and corp fin type jobs. Both Princeton and MIT programs are longer, more expensive, and more directed at trading/quant work/ HFs
