In need of MSF/MMS advice
I am a junior and an accounting and finance double major at a non-target with a 3.75 GPA. I will take the GMAT in May. I am still networking and trying to find an internship for this summer, but let us assume I am unable to, and the same happens with full time recruiting in the fall, at which point I will attend graduate school.
While I would like to work in New York, I would much rather work in Charlotte. I would be happier at BlackArch, Edgeview, or McColl than at Goldman, JPM, or MS. Knowing that, what do you think of the following programs? Which would give me the best shot at landing a FT IB offer?
-Boston College MSF
-Duke MMS
-UTA MPA
-Vanderbilt MSF
-Villanova MSF
-WUSTL MSF
Thank you in advance for any help.
If you want to work in NC I think Duke would have to be the favorite. The Duke name is obviously very well-known across the rest of the country too
Dukes MMS program would probably be optimal considering your goals. Maybe use Wake Forest as a safety school since they have strong, southern placements.
Provided that I network with Duke's alumni and get a GPA higher than 3.5, would I have a good shot at a fulltime analyst job after completing Duke's MMS program? I would appreciate any other advice.
Ant, should I apply to all of those schools, including Wake Forest, or are there any that you would not bother applying to if you were in my situation?
I go to Duke MBA. I think that for MMS, they like students with non-business backgrounds more. If you have a business undergrad, internships will serve you well.
That said, I think you have a good shot. Also apply for HBS 2+2 since they accept business undergrads too.
