GMAT 680 Q50 V31
just took the gmat and got a 680 (Q50 (93%), V31 (56%)....wondering if i should take the test again. im a senior at an ivy league school majoring in engineering (gpa 3.4). joining a BB s&t desk abroad (outside us) next year. dont know much about mba admissions, wondering what my chances are to get into a top 5/10/15 b-school in a couple years. should i try to crack that magic 700 number?
dude, can you read?
BB s&t will prove to be a greater impediment to an MBA than a 680 GMAT.
At my MBA school (875 students), only 6-7 were from s&t related positions within i-banks (NOT hedge fund positions), over 65 had BB m&a experience.
How's that an impediment. Fewer guys from S&T apply hence fewer are enrolled hence it's either supportive or neutral to your application.... It's all about the intengibles, anyway. From S&T you need to demonstrate that you can work as a team, think like a manager, be selfless, etc...
The reason there are so many IBD guys getting MBAs is because it is required for career advancement while s&t focuses on your ability and does not care about a stupid piece of paper. Other people who are career changers, will get an MBA so that they can get into s&t.
Seriously, you go to an Ivy and the best you can do on verbal is 31? Please tell me that you aren't a native speaker.
I would try to retake, most of the top schools shoot for an 80% on each section as a threshold, although it is a flexible benchmark, a 56% seems really low
