ESSEC BBA

Hi!

I was recently admitted to a few schools, now including Essec bba. Does anyone know how the programme Is recognised in France and internationally? I have heard that the French bachelor are not that good is that true?

BBA at ESSEC is like doing compliance at Goldman Sachs

You get the brand but the programme itself is poor

More seriously, in France Grande Ecoles programmes (after prepa) are prestigious, and bachelors are there mainly to bring more cash to the schools, but they are not well recognised in France. Abroad it can be seen better from people who know the brand ESSEC but are not familiar with the French system

For BBA which one would you recommend? I got into IE, Esade, ESSEC and EDHEC, my goal is to work at an investment bank, which of these universities do you think will help me do this?

ESSEC Grande Ecole (MiM) student here. Business schools BBA tend to not have the best reputation in France. I know a few ESSEC BBA students who have broken into M&A (so it's not impossible) but my previous team at a big French bank would automatically reject all BBA students (ESSEC and ESCP included). However, I do know a few students who did master's degrees at HEC, ESSEC, ESCP (etc) after their French BBAs and redeemed themselves

If you can, I would definitely recommend that! The ESSEC BBA isn't cheap by any means, so you might as well spend your €€€ at a good bachelor's degree. I did mine in the UK (pre-Brexit, so I don't what the tuition fees are like now) and then came to ESSEC for my MiM. I heard Bocconi's bachelor's is pretty good but I may be wrong

I'm Spanish actually! I am a bit biased against IE's bachelor degrees, since the dumbest people in my promotion at high school were the ones who went to IE (those who couldn't get into good public unis in Spain or couldn't make it to the UK). However, those classmates of mine who went to ESADE got into pretty good companies (three of them are doing consulting at MBB now). The thing with these business schools is that they traditionally just offered master's degrees, and they've started offering bachelor's degrees pretty recently, so they tend to be less strict with their requirements. However I do think that both IE and ESADE are great schools for your bachelor's.

PS: one of my classmates at ESSEC was an IE bachelor's alumnus

Okay thank you, that is really helpful! TBH I am currently really thinking to attend IE because they have those dope dual degrees and Campus + I think Madrid is awesome. So do you think that IE could give me a really solide background?

I personally haven't done much research on their bachelor's programs but I do think that IE/ESADE bachelor's degrees have a better reputation than ESSEC/ESCP, mainly due to the fact that the golden route in France is Preparatory Classes + Grande Ecole (MiM). Madrid is an amazing city to be a student, it's definitely less expensive than other European capitals yet you're getting all the fun from living in a big city. Then if you want you can go ahead and get your master's degree from a top French (or any other) school!

IE has larger programs so can explain the difference. I would still say ESADE is better due to the fact it is a non-profit school compared to IE (which main purpose is to make a profit to its shareholders)...

You are the one spilling BS all over this board as if you were very knowledgeable on the subject.

You sound like you went to Warwick and have an inferiority complex since you were not admitted to LSE or others….therefore you have the urge to put other schools down to make you feel better…..

I will say it again…as an American, you can spend $60k in Tuition at Terrible Private Universities and upwards of $40k for out of state tuition at TERRIBLE State Public Universities….$15k for a Bachelor through an American’s eyes is nothing……heck most of us who send our kids to private schools in the US are already spending $20k+….
