Chance Me for Masters in Finance programs
Hey y'all I am a current junior at Texas A&M and was wondering about my chances for Masters in Finance programs. I will be applying to them next year.
GPA: 3.95
I have yet to take an official GMAT, but I plan to take one soon. I have been consistently scoring around 700 on practice tests.
When I graduate I will have a BBA in finance and a minor in economics.
Extracurriculars:
I was on many philanthropy committees for my fraternity, participated in a freshman leadership organization (FLiP), was an active member of my school's business student council, and participated in Horizons and Aggies on Wall Street.
Internships:
Going into my sophomore year I landed an internship with AT&T through the EDGE program. Going into my Junior year I landed an internship with Deloitte on a Risk & Financial Advisory team. I am not at liberty yet to say what I have lined up for this summer but I am excited about it.
So far I plan on applying to
UT Austin
Georgetown
USC
NYU
Duke (for financial economics)
Michigan
Princeton
Am I setting my standards too high or are there other programs y'all would recommend?
Majority, if not all, of the programs you mentioned care about one thing the most: their placement stats…They want to know that you will get a job within 3-6 months of graduation and help them have a stellar employment report.
That being said, as long as you have 1-2 front-office internships under your belt, a 3.5+ GPA, stellar recommendations, and a high GMAT (I believe you can even get a waiver for some MSF programs such as Vandy if you have a 3.5+ GPA and demonstrated the ability to do well in quantitative classes)
Georgetown is a cash cow program btw... Have never heard of anyone being rejected and look at the size of the cohort... 120+!!Look into Vandy
