Boston University MS- Mathematical Finance vs Georgia Tech Quantitative & Computational Finance vs UIUC MSFE

Hi,

I wanted to weigh the Pros & Cons for each of
1. Boston University School of Management - MS- Mathematical Finance
2. Georgia Tech - MS- Quantitative & Computational Finance.
3. University of Illinois, Urbana Champaign.MS - Financial Engineering

on the following parameters,
1. Location Advantage/Disadvantage
2. Mean/Median Salaries
3. Course Structure ( Want to be a more Math, Quant Intensive)
4. Reputation on the Wall Street and world markets.
5. Return on Investment for an international Student

Please help, as I need to zero down on one pretty soon!
TIA.

Georgia and uiuc. But is out of question. It's not very well regarded. Personally I would choose uiuc. Atlanta is not my favorite location. But the programs are comparable. It depends on Where you want to work. NY will be hard to find job in coming out of those programs. But it's not impossible. or if phd is your goal, uiuc please!

Can't speak to the others, but I know that GA Tech has a strong (albeit regionally influenced) brand. They outrank MIT in some engineering programs.

Keep in mind that with Tech (I was an engineering student there for a year before I decided I wasn't interested in engineering....which made Tech a poor place for me to be) the student body is predominantly Indian with a lot of chinese.

If social life is a concern keep in mind that Tech isn't a good place. The school is famous for its "weed out" classes(some match/science classes are extremely difficult by design so that anyone who can't handle the more advanced engineering classes quits). One of my buddies also did a facebook search for "female" and "single"(back when you needed a .edu address to sign up) at Georgia Tech and came with a grand total of seven results. Social life is similarly lacking. While there is a limited greek scene most of the students spend an amount of time studying comparable to what IB analysts spend working....and it impacts the social scene in a predictable manner: not a lot of partying, and a lot of lonely weekend drinking.

Not that there aren't attractive girls there, it is Atlanta after all. You just need to go across the street to other colleges to find them.
