Vacation during Internship?
Hello everyone,
I am starting an internship at a pensions fund's real estate arm. With Covid laws, the first 1-2 months of my internship has been pushed to online.
Since I am working online, I was wondering how my employers/bosses would view spending the first 1-2 weeks of my internship in like Mexico at a resort or something. Obviously, I would still put in all hours required for the internship. Nowhere in my contract does it state that I would need to be in the host country of the job (but the contract was for in-person).
Thank you!
Why do they need to know where you are? As long as you put in work, shouldn’t matter.
I mean I agree, but I assume IT would know and they would ask at some point where I am.
The odds of IT informing your manager of this are very slim in an organization of that size.
If you are set on going, make sure to take monitors with you. Working on a laptop alone will derail your efficiency and they'll likely question your dedication. Other then that you should be fine - just don’t bring it up.
Just my 2c
As long as the internship's remote and you still put in the required effort you should be fine
Remote means anywhere. Don't ask for permission. It would be nice to give them a courtesy heads up, but isn't required. If they ask you, don't feel the need to hide anything.
Just be sure to set your family’s expectations
