To transfer or not to transfer

I got accepted to transfer to New York University for civil engineering and I would also major in finance as I’m currently almost done with finance. If I wanted to one day buy raw land and build modern homes on them, would this be a good route or is there a better route? I currently go to the university of Texas at Dallas. I have the basic engineering classes done, but if I stay at UT Dallas I would not finish my engineering degree.

Can assure you completing a degree in civil engineering will not make a difference. Stay the course at UT-Dallas. Spend the time you would be in the engineering classes networking with developers and attempt to get an internship/role from it - will get much more of an understanding/experience from it in months than another degree (if building modular homes is and will remain your single/end goal)
