Stirling Properties

Has anyone worked with them or have any insights? Have talked to a couple people there over the past two years and they seem to be a sharp group that dabbles in a little bit of everything. Not very known because they focus on the gulf coast but if anyone has any info it would be appreciated.

Pretty sure the founder Jimmy Maurin had some really strong mob ties back in the day.

They typically develop/broker smaller deals on the gulf coast. Dev team is extremely lean like any firm in their area. If you’re in the NOLA area, I’d hit up Bryce French who just started the CBRE office or, if you like development, try for Woodward who rehabbed the old trade center into the new Four Seasons at the end of Poydras. Also HRI is a good dev firm down there as well.

Not many shops in that area to work at. Wouldn’t recommend living there either. Crime is horrible and unsafe to have a family.

Definitely gonna look into the names you mentioned. I’m not intending on living in NOLA for the long term because it’s been a shit hole since Katrina but instead I’m trying to find firms where I could intern at and gain some good experience while being an undergrad. Stirling seems to take interns and have some large acquisitions like their power center in Biloxi with PMAT and the Pan American Life Building.

Bryce at CBRE seems to have brought over a bunch of large listings from his last brokerage but we’ll see if CBRE expands their presence in NOLA by bringing more people on board. Pretty sure a guy at Stirling went to Colliers recently.

Not sure how much you know about the market but what are your thoughts on HRI and Domain on the development side of things. Also any thoughts on Corporate Realty or SRSA. Ik Schedler kills it in multifamily and is somewhat part of Cushman but that shop is like 3 people. Anyone I’m missing to reach out to?

That’s all I know tbh. May try to see if Lahasky Devlopment is hiring. I saw they bought the DXC building recently. That’s all I got on NOLA firms tho. Tough market.

If you’re at Tulane, I’d reach out to your NYC network(or any bigger metro) for internships over staying in Nola. I can’t think off the top of my head right now but a few people I know are from Tulane at CMBS at BlackRock, some at Blackstone, Hines, Apollo etc.

All I know about the ones you mentioned is seeing a few projects they’ve done.

The ones I mentioned, what I know is they have great cultures, and the people I’ve interacted with seemed great and have great reputations. All run extremely lean though. I’m assuming Bryce is hiring/looking for an intern considering the new office and all.

If you PM me I’ll give you someone to reach out to at BlackRock NYC

Thanks for the info

Tulane’s real estate community is small but def punches above its weight
