Real Estate vs Corp Fin
Posting here just to spit ball some career paths/ ideas as I am young and feel I would like to get as much info as I can. I currently work in the construction/building material space. Prior to that I worked briefly in wealth management in the Northeast region.
I have been thinking or going back to school in one form or another. Was thinking either NYU for their MSRE program or a MBA program at a local school (think Rutgers, Fordham, Drexel, ect.) My thoughts would be MSRE to stay in the real estate/ development space, or an MBA to get into a Corp Fin role (maybe something in pharma would be cool).
Can anyone speak on this. Their experiece, Career growth, earning potential....any insight would help. Thanks.
Funny enough, I’m actually doing corporate finance within the CRE space. All the big public REITs are very corporate and you forget you even own properties.
Since REITs typically run lean, you get a ton of experience on the corporate side (corporate strategy, corp dev, cap markets all in one).
Thanks for the insight. As I am thinking about continuing education.. do you think it would be better to get into a MSRE program given my background or would a MBA give me some more options?
