Real estate internship in London/Paris
Hello everybody,
I m currently a student doing a gap year and I m currently doing an internship as a strategist assistant. However I am realizing that I m not a market driven person and I need something more down to earth. I already had some interviews with JLL or CBRE and had a great time talking with their people. However I would prefer to have an internship in a real estate fund in acquisition (ideally REPE).
What should I do? Have an internship in JLL or one of those firms to have a better understanding of the business and try to break in acquisition later? Try to do IB and go in a fund after that?
Or should I try to network my way into one of those funds?
A last question : how is structured finance in a bank seen in the real estate space? Does it provide good exit opps?
Thanks a lot for your help!
Generally real estate related IB -> REPE is accepted as the most logical path. It is also common to go from investment sales to acquisitions. If you are looking to get your feet wet in RE a large brokerage is the way to go , IMO.
