MIT / Columbia MRED Chances
Hey guys,
I'm applying for the MRED Program at MIT and Columbia and was wondering based on your experience or peers, what my chances are for getting in.
I am
-
South Korean, graduated from one of the top schools in Korea (GPA: 3.11)
-
GMAT 680
-
3 years of experience at biggest investment bank in S.Korea at real estate investment division
-
1 year of experience at asset management company in S.Korea as real estate&portfolio manager
MIT and Columbia have entirely different standards and quality of program. Columbia's more comparable to NYU's and it's hard to get rejected.
Do you recommend applying for NYU with my background?
I've anecdotally seen Columbia place slightly better than NYU. Most MSRED programs don't allow you to take courses from the business school (Columbia/NYU/Georgetown) so anecdotally I think that the network is weaker than ones that do (MIT, Cornell, and I think USC?).
May I ask why a real estate degree? Just out of general curiosity because if I had three years IB, I’d probably look at an mba over a real estate degree because it doesn’t limit me to re only.
