Interview Update
I recently interviewed with a firm for a mid level role i.e. Senior Associate. The first round included a short discussion with one of the MDs.
any chance I hear back?

You realize that you internet stalking someone for no reason and then leaking their private info makes you a creep and a scumbag and solely reflects negatively upon yourself and not OP right?
Lol, dude dropped OPs private info like everyone was gonna applaud his wack ass cyberstalking. What a fucking moron.
Am I missing anything? Though he just called him a name which after googling means strong? Did he say something else and Dox OP?
Give it some time. There are 1000 different things that could be going on that are not about you or you candidacy.
Give it another week or so and then check back in.
Fair point - thanks.
How do you feel about the MD not responding to my follow up?
he was responsive to my previous thank you / follow up email and said himself HE will follow up with me
He could be busy with something else and just not had time. I try and answer my email daily, but some things just slip. And if something was going to slip, it would be an email to a prospective employee, not an email to an investor or something deal related.
In general, don't expect someone to immediately answer you in the business world. This isn't text message and they aren't your best friend.
No one ever landed a job based on follow ups. Stop trying so hard, they know you want the job. Just sit back and wait. Ive interviewed like 5 people for a job that was never filled
Yup - that was my last follow-up. Not following up again I'll hear back if they're interested.
Yeah just in general seeing other roles companies I've worked at have had openings for many are just posted to see what's out there without any actual need just fyi. I've seen many interviews for analysts/associates with no choice after hundreds of applicants and tens of interviews for qualified candidates.
Would just relax a bit. It’s a tough job market out there , especially within real estate.
You’ll bounce back. Don’t worry.
Declaration of war: Takeawalkk’s radio broadcast, 19th of July 2023, 3pm. I am speaking to you from floor 19 at the JPM office in Canary Wharf. This morning the Takeawalkk’s ambassador in London handed the team a final note stating that unless we heard from them by 4 pm o'clock that they were prepared at once to send a job offer contract from human resources, a state of war would exist between us. I have to tell you now that no such undertaking has been received, and that consequently this candidate is at war with the team and decided to instead join their closest competitor.
This funny. You’re right.
Had a similar situation to you! Still waiting to hear back but not optimistic. They said the same thing as you.
Half these jobs are not being filled given the market. Hope you hear back with an offer!
Na, this 100% is being filled, the question is to who. I interviewed earlier than other candidates as I was earlier on in the process compared to other candidates, but they keep delaying the results, which has me really down.
Like you, been laid off (since February), so I really want to be done with recruitment. In my mind, I know I still need to do interviews at other banks, but it’s slowly killing me every time I have to do another model exam/case study.
How long has it been?
Was supposed to find out last week, Sunday they emailed me and said they will let me know by this week
Yeah man, everyone's who's recruited knows this pain. Since it's important we all have anxiety about the result.
Just take a step back and realise there's nothing you can do now, don't make any assumptions about the result. Get back on applications and if it works out then great, if not keep ploughing.
Receiving feedback and updates from employers can sometimes take time, as they may need to review all candidates and conduct additional interviews before making a decision. Some companies provide updates shortly after interviews, while others may take a few days or weeks.
The best approach is to remain patient and professional. If the firm mentioned a specific timeframe for getting back to you, it's reasonable to follow up within that timeframe if you haven't heard anything. You can also send a polite thank-you email to the MD who conducted the interview to express your appreciation for the opportunity.
